Yanshan University is a National Key Universities co founded by the People's Government of Hebei Province, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, a national first-class university and a world-class discipline construction university supported by Hebei Province, and a member of the Beijing High tech University Alliance. The

school has 34 majors selected as national first-class undergraduate major construction sites. In 2016, as one of the two universities selected by the Ministry of Education, the university's engineering national certification received observation and inspection from international experts under the Washington Agreement, supporting China's official accession to the Washington Agreement International Engineering Education Organization. At present, the school has 18 engineering majors that have passed the Professional certification (assessment) of engineering education, which marks that the quality of talent cultivation of these majors has been internationally recognized and has entered the "first matrix" of global engineering education.
