On the afternoon of February 17th, Zhao Xian, Senior Liaison Officer for the South China Region of the British Consulate General in Guangzhou, visited the Asia Europe Water Resources Research and Utilization Center (hereinafter referred to as the "Asia Europe Water Resources Center") and held work talks with the head of the Asia Europe Water Resources Center, relevant comrades from the International and Regional Science and Technology Cooperation Office, etc., with the aim of exploring the possibility of project cooperation and building a bridge for China UK water resources technology exchange and cooperation.
At the meeting, Zhao Xian introduced the relevant situation of the British Embassy and Consulate in China regarding funding for scientific research exchange projects, and listed a list of project cooperation plans. She expressed the hope to further promote cooperation between the Asia Europe Water Resources Center and the UK Ecological Hydrology Center. The head of the Asia Europe Water Resources Center first reviewed the cooperation with the UK Eco Hydrology Center since 2014, especially at the 5th Asia Europe Urban water management Seminar, three experts and scholars from the UK Eco Hydrology Center delivered academic speeches; He expressed that he would adhere to the principles of openness and win-win, support the two sides to carry out scientific and technological innovation cooperation in the construction of Chenzhou National Innovation Demonstration Area of the Sustainable Development Agenda and the National Field Scientific Observation and Research Station of Dongting Lake Lake Wetland Ecosystem, and continue to deepen the results of the fifth Asia Europe Urban water management Seminar; Support the research exchange projects of the British Embassy and Consulate in China from three aspects: cultural exchange and academic visits, research projects and technological needs, and commonality exploration and innovation cooperation. Both parties also held work discussions on theme selection, application methods, implementation paths, fund raising, and cooperation commonalities.
Next, the Asia Europe Water Resources Center will focus on project support policies, continue to liaise with relevant departments of the British Consulate General in Guangzhou, and plan to hold various forms of exchange meetings with the British Ecological Hydrology Center, in order to better play its role as an international platform and enhance the international influence of water resource technology innovation and exchange cooperation between Hunan, the UK, and China and the UK.
