The college was founded in 1956 and underwent six changes, including the Shijiazhuang Highway Engineering School of the Ministry of Transportation, Hebei Jiaotong University, and Hebei Jiaotong University. In 2002, it was upgraded and restructured from Hebei Jiaotong University to Hebei Jiaotong Vocational and Technical College.
