Project description
The Elderly Orthopedics Department of Tangshan Second Hospital is the first elderly orthopedics ward in China, mainly treating elderly limb and spinal bone injuries and degenerative bone and joint diseases. It has 43 open beds, strong medical and technical personnel, 3 chief physicians, 3 deputy chief physicians, and 1 doctoral graduate student. Since its establishment in 2008, the department has been continuously exploring and exploring a set of disease treatment methods that are particularly suitable for elderly orthopedic patients, with continuous improvement in efficacy and multiple technologies reaching advanced levels in China. Since its introduction at the end of 2017, this project has successfully carried out more than 600 cases, with technology leading domestically and radiating nationally and internationally. Discipline leader Liang Junsheng, in response to the DAMIS "Thousand Talents Plan" large-scale academic activity jointly initiated by Chunli Medical, Professor Wang Kunzheng, and Professor Qiao Zhi, Chairman of the Greek Orthopedic Association, is a core member of the Thousand Talents Plan, Director Liang Junsheng has done a lot of work in this regard. Since March 2018, Director Liang Junsheng has accepted the invitation of Professor George, former president of the European Hip Association, and Professor Wang Kunzheng, chairman of the orthopaedic branch of the Chinese Medical Association. As a lecturer of the "Thousand Talents Program" of DAMIS, he has taught and guided DAMIS surgery in many hospitals across the country. Together with Professor George, we launched the "the Belt and Road" of DAMIS. Since March 2018, over 60 specialized academic lectures and surgical demonstrations have been held in multiple large hospitals across the country. At the same time, many domestic experts came to learn and observe surgeries, and international friends also came to learn in admiration. Countries including Australia, the Philippines, Mongolia, Cambodia, and others benefited greatly. Liang Junsheng made outstanding contributions to the successful popularization and large-scale development of this technology. In the past, hip replacement surgery often used a posterior approach, which resulted in significant losses and slow recovery. The new technology used a anterior approach, which posed a difficult surgical procedure. Standardize surgical techniques and strengthen training. The goal is to popularize standardized surgical techniques as soon as possible. DAMIS refers to minimally invasive hip arthroplasty through the anterior approach, which allows patients to be discharged on the same day and recover joint function as soon as possible. In European and American countries, the proportion of minimally invasive hip arthroplasty in initial replacement is rapidly increasing. We introduced DAMIS minimally invasive total hip arthroplasty in 2017, and have achieved good results since its implementation. We have also had multiple exchanges in China. In order to quickly popularize this advanced technology and respond to the DAMIS "Thousand Talents Plan" large-scale academic activity jointly initiated by Chunli Medical, Professor Wang Kunzheng, and Professor George, Chairman of the Greek Orthopedic Association, we aim to conduct theoretical lectures, surgical demonstrations and practical manual operations, on-site observation and training, and other methods through this project to cultivate the understanding of DAMIS technology among domestic doctors, Help some knowledgeable and eager joint doctors master the internationally advanced surgical technology of DAMIS, improve the diagnosis and treatment level of joints in this field in China, and thus better serve clinical patients. DAMIS refers to minimally invasive hip arthroplasty through the anterior approach, which allows patients to be discharged on the same day and recover joint function as soon as possible. In European and American countries, the proportion of minimally invasive hip arthroplasty in initial replacement is rapidly increasing. We introduced DA artificial hip replacement surgery in 2017, which has been developed in China for over 50 years. It is a mature and standard orthopedic treatment technology that effectively restores the function of the hip joint. However, traditional total hip arthroplasty has drawbacks such as significant trauma, high blood loss, postoperative pain, and slow postoperative recovery, which pose new challenges and requirements for orthopedic physicians. According to reports, the concept of minimally invasive artificial joint injuries was proposed in the early 1990s, and since then, medical researchers both domestically and internationally have been continuously trying and exploring, including improvements in surgical techniques, prostheses, and instruments. In the past decade, with the development of medicine, the improvement of surgical techniques, the improvement of surgical instruments, and the rapid development of minimally invasive total hip arthroplasty in China. In August 2006, the National Joint Surgery Group held a "Minimally Invasive Joint Replacement Expert Seminar", at which an "expert suggestion" was formed to classify both small incision and non muscle cutting hip joint replacement as minimally invasive joint replacement. DAMIS refers to minimally invasive hip arthroplasty through the anterior approach, which is an improvement based on direct anterior approach hip arthroplasty. The surgery adopts a small incision through the anterior approach of the hip joint, muscle space approach, and does not cut off muscles for hip arthroplasty. The surgery introduces a dedicated lower limb traction frame and supporting surgical instruments, which facilitates the operation of the femoral end, better exposes the surgical field, and effectively reduces the occurrence of complications. In recent years, the proportion of minimally invasive hip joint surgery in initial replacement has rapidly increased in European and American countries. Since the introduction of this technology in China in 2017, the team led by Liang Junsheng from the Elderly Orthopedics Department of Tangshan Second Hospital has successfully performed over 600 surgeries since November 2017, achieving satisfactory short-term results. DAMIS can achieve faster postoperative recovery with smaller trauma, thereby achieving very good therapeutic effects and leading the domestic level.
