Project description
1. Extract and identify specific compounds of traditional Chinese medicine with anticancer activity. 2. Clarify the corresponding relationship between the structure of compounds with anticancer activity and their anticancer effects, including structure-activity relationship research. 3. Clarify the targets and specific regulatory networks of anticancer compounds. Chinese ancient medical books record that dandelion, Dijincao, Pinellia ternata, and Huoxiang in traditional Chinese medicine formulas have anticancer effects, and the above four drugs have no toxic or side effects. However, the specific basis and mechanism of its anticancer active substances are unclear, which limits its clinical application. Our laboratory has recorded in ancient Chinese medical books that dandelion, Dijincao, Pinellia ternata, and Huoxiang in traditional Chinese medicine formulas have anticancer effects, and these four drugs have no toxic or side effects. However, the specific basis and mechanism of its anticancer active substances are unclear, which limits its clinical application. Our laboratory recently conducted preliminary activity tests on the ethanol extracts of the four Chinese herbal medicines mentioned above, and found that the crude extracts of the four Chinese herbal medicines have a significant inhibitory effect on the proliferation of esophageal and gastric cancer cells. Our laboratory plans to extract, screen, and identify the active substance basis of the four Chinese herbal medicines mentioned above, and analyze their structure of inhibiting tumor cell proliferation. We will discover the specific structural characteristics of their effects and determine their target points of action. Establishing experimental and theoretical foundations for the development and utilization of traditional Chinese medicine
