The 2023 China Africa Innovation Cooperation and Development Forum opened in Han today, signing 20 international projects on-site
On July 6th, the 2023 China Africa Innovation Cooperation and Development Forum and Hubei International Technology Exchange Conference opened in Wuhan, Hubei, where a total of 20 international science and technology cooperation projects were signed.
During the activity, the China Africa Innovation Cooperation Center signed a cooperation framework agreement with the South African Technology Innovation Agency and the African Academy of Sciences. Around advanced technology, modern agriculture, life and health, infrastructure, international trade, etc., 20 international projects were signed on-site, with deep participation from universities and enterprises in Han.
In terms of advanced technology, Wuhan University of Technology signed contracts with Egypt's Faiyum University and Egypt's Azhar University to carry out cooperative research on China Egypt advanced Energy storage; Huazhong University of Science and Technology signed a smart city joint research center project with Mekelle University in Ethiopia, and signed a multimedia communication and network joint research center project with Maiduguri University in Nigeria.
In terms of modern agriculture, the Institute of Oil Crops of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences signed a cooperation agreement on sesame variety improvement with the Tigray Oil Crops and Legumes Producers Association of Ethiopia; China Three Gorges University and Tamil University of Technology in Ghana jointly built the China Africa Intelligent and Efficient Water saving Irrigation and Equipment Laboratory; Hubei Lianfeng Overseas Agricultural Development Group Co., Ltd. has signed a cooperation framework agreement with Mozambique Agricultural Research Institute.
In terms of life and health, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Jinpai Zhengtang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. jointly signed a Sino Vietnamese traditional medicine cooperation research project with Vietnam Haiphong Pharmaceutical University; Hubei University of Chinese Medicine signed a cooperation framework agreement with the Italian Marionege Institute of Pharmacology and the Italian Promotion Center; Hubei Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Kenya Muslim Education and Welfare Association Hospital signed a framework cooperation agreement for the Sino African Green Cancer Prevention and Control Cooperation Research Project; North China Pharmaceutical Group Group Co., Ltd. and Wuhan Weita Zhilian Technology Co., Ltd. signed a technical service procurement contract with Ghana Grand Odum Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.
In terms of infrastructure construction, China Railway Bridge Survey and Design Institute Group Co., Ltd. and Ghana CD Engineering Co., Ltd. signed the project management service for Ghana Namdini mine flotation tailings, CIL tailings and water storage facilities construction project, and Ghana Accra Jiefang Avenue upgrade (Viaduct) project.
In terms of international trade, Asia Africa Silk Road (Beijing) International Business Co., Ltd. has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the China Africa Friendship Association Alliance; Yalian Zhengxing Consulting Services (Beijing) Co., Ltd. has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Egypt CUS Import and Export Co., Ltd. In terms of university cooperation, Huazhong University of Science and Technology signed a memorandum of understanding with Bahada University in Ethiopia; Hubei University of Technology signed the China Africa partnership research institute project and university level memorandum of cooperation with South Africa's Vinda University and Tunisia's Suse Applied science and Technology College respectively.
It is reported that the conference will set up parallel special events such as the opening ceremony, the keynote forum, the "the Belt and Road" science and technology direct train (special session for Africa), and the launch and promotion of advanced Appropriate technology for China Africa innovation cooperation. On July 7th, the 2023 African Diplomats' Science and Technology Innovation Jingchu Trip to China will also be held.
As of now, Hubei has established scientific and technological exchanges with more than 60 countries, regions, and international organizations worldwide, and has achieved significant results in building international scientific and technological cooperation platforms, implementing international scientific and technological cooperation projects, and organizing international technological exchange activities.
