Director Luo Zhaohui Meets with the Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development of Economy of Germany and Both Parties Sign a Three Year Action Plan
People's Daily Online, Beijing, June 20 (Reporter Yuan Jirong) On June 19, 2023, Luo Zhaohui, Director of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, met with Economy of Germany's Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Schulze to prepare for the seventh round of China Germany government consultations co chaired by the two prime ministers.
Since the signing of the memorandum of cooperation between China and Germany in 2021, they have actively carried out cooperation in the field of international development, created new models of cooperation between the two sides, and enriched new connotations of bilateral relations. At present, the complex evolution of the international environment has shifted the development agenda, and the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 has suffered setbacks. Both sides agree to consolidate global development consensus, promote international development cooperation, regularly hold the China Germany Sustainable Development Forum, and actively carry out tripartite cooperation in areas such as poverty reduction, climate change response, and agriculture.
After the meeting, Director Luo Zhaohui and Minister Shuerze signed the three-year action plan of the two departments on strengthening international development cooperation. Both sides have decided to adopt this three-year action plan and take joint actions in key areas within the framework of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in order to achieve tangible results in their cooperation.
The action plan focuses on six aspects:
1、 Both sides are willing to establish an annual bureau level exchange and dialogue mechanism to exchange policies, experiences, and knowledge on international development cooperation.
2、 Both sides are willing to jointly host the China Germany Sustainable Development Forum every two years. This year's Sino German Sustainable Development Forum is planned to be held in the autumn of 2023.
3、 The two sides are willing to work hard to implement the tripartite agricultural (rice) cooperation project with the Federation of Nigeria, and actively promote joint investigation under the framework of the project. Further explore the possibility of conducting tripartite cooperation in the fields of technical and vocational education and training.
4、 Both sides are willing to actively explore the design and implementation of joint training courses (capacity building) in human resource development, including renewable energy, green economy, promoting gender equality, vocational education, and other aspects.
5、 Both parties are willing to conduct selective joint on-site inspections and evaluations on cooperation projects.
6、 Both sides are willing to provide appropriate support for academic cooperation on topics of common interest in development cooperation, such as the legislative system for international development cooperation, supervision and evaluation of cooperation projects, trade assistance, and debt to debt development, relying on their own professional knowledge and relevant resources.
